La Grange Swimmers Cap Strong Season at Regionals
The La Grange High School Swim Team competed at the Region V-5A Swimming and Diving Championships on Feb 7 and 8. There were 32 teams in attendance. On Monday the LHS swimmers competed in the prelims. The regional qualifiers were Morgan King, Celeine Fabre, Campbell Youens,Riley Youenhs, Isabella Strever, Avery Koehl, Trey Cunningham, Cole Stork, Ben Swisher, Will Bundick and Gage Mihatsch. The regional alternates were Madeline Willrich, Quinlynn Landis, Collin Landis, Dalton Landis and Hunter Sabo.
The results of the prelims were as follows.
Girls 200 Medley Relay swam a 2:19.10 which earned them 16th place
Boys 200 Medley Relay swam a 2:02.58 which earned the 18th place
Campbell Youens swam the 100 Fly in 1:11.46 which earned her 19th place
Trey Cunningham swam the 100 Free in 57.19 which earned him 23rd place
Girls 200 Free Relay swam a 1:59.08 which earned them 17th place
Boys 200 Free Relay swam a 1:46.27 which earned them 17th place
Girls 400 Free Relay swam a 4:35.03 which earned them 14th place
Boys 400 Free Relay swam a 4:03.66 which earned them 16th place.
This season three relays placed high enough to be able to swim in the finals on Tuesday. The Girls 200 Medley relay consisting of Morgan King, Maddi Mach, Campbell Youens and Isabella Strever swam a 2:17.29 placing 16th overall.
The Girls 400 Free relay consisting of Isabella Strever, Riley Youens, Celeine Fabre, and Campbell Youens swam a 4:32.82 placing 14th overall.
The Boys 400 Free relay consisting of Ben Swisher, Cole Stork, Will Bundick and Trey Cunningham swam a 4:00.50 placing 16th overall.
The LHS Swim Team ended their season setting nine new school records. Morgan King, Maddi Mach, Campbell Youens, and Celeine Fabre in the 200 Medley relay with a time of 2:15.15 Isabella Strever in the 200 Freestyle with a time of 2:35.72. Campbell Youens in the 100 Fly with a time of 1:09.83. Celeine Fabre in the 100 Freestyle with a time of 1:07.71. Campbell Youens in the 500 Freestyle with a time of 7:39.02. Morgan King, Celeine Fabre, Isabella Strever, and Campbell Youens in the 200 Free Relay with a time of 1:58.11. Celeine Fabre, Riley Youens, Isabella Strever, and Campbell Youens in the 400 Free Relay with a time of 4:32.27. Trey Cunningham in the 100 Freestyle with a time of 55.02. Ben Swisher in the 500 Freestyle with a time of 6:50.13.
The team is looking forward to next season in which for the first time ever the UIL has approved a 4A and under swimming classification.
