Konvicka’s Playoff No-Hitter Earns Him Fayette County Athlete of the Week Title
Fayetteville baseball player Chance Konvicka is just one of many bright, young stars for a loaded Lions team that is on pace to defend their 2021 state title. In a 13-0 series-clinching playoff win vs. Round Top-Carmine, Konvicka threw a nohitter as a freshman.
“Earlier in the year, Chance was hitting the ball real well. He’s still hitting it pretty good. Now, he’s pitching real well,” said Fayetteville head baseball coach Clint Jaeger. “He’s kind of put the whole thing together. He held his nerves together pretty good and was able to complete a no-hitter as a freshman. That’s pretty special. Hopefully now that he got his feet wet in the playoffs, as we go on, he may have gotten some of those nerves out and he can just fit right in.”
Konvicka’s impressive outing has made him our choice for this edition’s Fayette County Athlete of the Week.
