Kennedy Flinn Scoring in Bunches for Playoff-Bound Cubettes

Round Top-Carmine basketball player Kennedy Flinn has had a tremendous impact on a Cubettes team that has clinched a playoff birth for the first time in eight years. Flinn has provided a scoring spark in order to propel her team into the postseason, reaching double figures in several recent games.

“Kennedy has really turned it on as the season has progressed,” said Round Top-Carmine head girls basketball coach Catie Carney. “She’s been good on the boards. She’s been rebounding like a magnet for us here lately, so it’s been really fun to watch her grow as a player and as a person. She’s a crucial part of our team.”

Flinn’s consistent production has given her the nod for this edition’s Athlete of the Week.

Question: What would you say it takes to being a good scorer?

Answer: “I would say it takes a lot of confidence in yourself and a lot of confidence in your team. They’ll help you through everything.”

Question: How did you get into basketball?

Answer: “I started basketball at a very young age. A lot of my classmates, we all did Little Dribblers together, and it just kind of went on from there.”

Question: What’s your favorite movie?

Answer: “The Little Mermaid. I really like it. It’s a really nice movie.”

Question: Who’s a teammate you sit with the most on the bus?

Answer: “I sit with Fernanda (Cerda) on the bus.”

Question: Where’s your favorite place to go for a walk and why?

Answer: “I would probably say out in my pasture. It’s very calm out there and sometimes you can see some of the cows.”

Question: What’s something you’ve always wanted to accomplish?

Answer: “Probably make a Question: Who’s a person you look up to the most and why?

Answer: “I look up to my brother the most. He also played basketball here. He’s at (Texas) A&M now, but he’s one of my biggest inspirations.”

Question: How would you describe what basketball means to you?

Answer: “I would describe it as something that takes my mind off of any problems I have in life. It’s just really calming out here.”

Question: What part of your game do you like to work on the most?

Answer: “I like to work on my rebounding or close shooting so I can get better in the games.”

Question: If you had to convince someone to go to school at Round Top-Carmine, what would you tell them?

Answer: “I would tell them it’s a very close-knit school. We’re all very close and everyone knows everyone. It’s just very fun here. It’s very chill.”

Flinn possesses skill at some of the most important aspects of basketball for Round Top-Carmine as they have a playoff bid to show for it.
