Question: What’s it like being the number one golfer on the team?
Answer: “Being the number one golfer, I always have to practice. Getting out on the range and doing what I can everyday is kind of just helping me to get where my golf game is right now. That’s really how it’s helped me to be the number one golfer on my team.”
Question: What’s your favorite club in your bag and why?
Answer: “To be honest, I think the driver has to be my favorite club because it goes the furthest for me and I know that I can hit it well right down the middle. If I had to hit a little draw, a little fade, anything that I can do, I know I can hit it in the fairway somewhere.”
Question: If you could play one golf course, which one would you choose and why?
Answer: “I think Augusta. Augusta’s always been a dream of mine. I just watched The Masters this past week. It was very eventful and very exciting to watch. I mean, Rory and Colin both holed out on their last hole of the day. It was just exciting to see both of them finish with a good round.”
Question: Who’s a tennis player you look up to and why?
Answer: “I would definitely say Roger Federer because he’s been through a lot. He’s done his job for most and he’s won so many titles. My dad and I have always looked up to him. He’s just a great tennis player allaround.”
Question: Who’s your favorite baseball team and why?
Answer: “Definitely the Astros. I’ve been an Astros supporter my whole life. My whole family has. We go to their games a lot and really, I just love Jose Altuve. Jose Altuve’s one of my favorite players to watch. He’s very small. I used to be about his height for a long time and it was crazy to think that I could get somewhere with being the same height as him.”
Question: What would you say is the best part of your golf game?
Answer: “I would definitely say my short game. Short game definitely helps me to save a hole even if I have a bad iron shot sometimes. If I need to get a little spin on a shot, I definitely can, so I love short game.”
Question: What’s your goto restaurant in Schulenburg and why?
Answer: “I would definitely say Whataburger. I’m always out late. Whataburger’s always the go-to if I need to run by and grab a quick burger, chicken strips, anything.”
Question: What’s your golf movie of choice and why?
Answer: “That’s hard. I don’t really have a favorite. They’re all really great movies and I just love golf in general. Golf movies are really good to watch. Videos on YouTube, too. They’re all good to watch for my game.”
Question: How fast can you run a 40-yard dash?
Answer: “I think I’m around a 4.7 now. In that range.”
Question: How would you describe the sports culture at Schulenburg?
Answer: “I would definitely say we have a good background here with the coaches like Coach Hoog. Then we have Coach Bourgioes as our baseball coach, Coach Brock is our head football coach. We have a great background to where if we need to win games, we can. They have that experience for the coaching staff.”
McBride contributes heavily in a number of sports while showing passion for his school of Schulenburg.
