Janda Has a Hand in Four TDs, but Shorthorns Still Fall to Holland
Schulenburg had one of its best offensive football games of the season but it was still not enough to get the Shorthorns their first win of the year as Holland prevailed 53-33 Friday night. The Shorthorns rolled up 319 yards of total offense and Jayse Janda ran for two touchdowns and threw for two more (to Nicolas Lopez and Kenny Schramek). Rodney Walton also added a 84-yard touchdown run for Schulenburg. But Holland (5-4 overall and 4-1 in district) churned up 377 yards on the ground and jumped out a 14-0 lead in the first quarter that they would never lose.
Holland hosts Flatonia this week in a battle to decide the district title. Schulenburg, meanwhile, has one more chance to avoid a winless season. The Shorthorns play at Thrall (2-7 overall, 1-4 in district) Friday.
