Schulenburg junior Caden Herzik won his first round match at the state 2A tennis tournament in San Antonio last week against Joshua Morris of Omaha Pewitt 6-1, 6-3.
But then Herzik lost in the state quarterfinals in three sets to Gunnar Stroud of Big Lake 3-6, 6-2, 6-3.
