Flatonia junior basketball player Jaidyn Guyton stands at 6’2 and has the build to bang down low while scoring baskets for Flatonia basketball. Guyton is also a star wide-receiver on the football team.
“First of all, Jaidyn’s a really good kid and he’s very coachable,” said Flatonia head boy’s basketball coach Chris Sodek. “He does whatever we ask him to do. There’s never been a time where we’ve asked him to do something that he wasn’t willing to do. He sacrifices for the betterment of the team.” Guyton’s start to the basketball season was put on hold due to injuries from football, but has thrived since stepping out on the court.
“It took him a little while to get going,” Sodek said. “You can tell the improvement of what he does for us. Finishing by the basket, blocking shots, and playing defense. He’s really a sound player for us and we wouldn’t be where we are without him right now.” Guyton’s ability to take advantage of his size has landed him a nomination for this edition’s Athlete of the Week.
