As a Freshman Trlicek Already Having A Big Impact for Multiple LG Teams

La Grange freshman basketball player Kylie Trlicek is a guard who currently leads the team in points and assists, and was the leading scorer this week in both games Tuesday at the Weimar Tournament. Trlicek also puts up strong numbers as a starter on the volleyball team in the early stages of her career.

“She has come a long way from the beginning of the year,” said La Grange head girl’s basketball coach Heath Golan. “I think it took her some time to adjust to a new team and the speed and physicality of the varsity level. Once she did, she has really come on lately and been a good player for us.”

Given her success on varsity in her first year in high school, she is our selection for this edition’s Athlete of the Week.

Question: What’s your method of scoring in basketball?

Answer: “My preferred method in scoring is usually layups. Outside shots, when I’m open, those are easy to take. Mainly just layups, though.”

Question: How does being a guard challenge you?

Answer: “It challenges me because of the defensive pressure. Having to handle the ball when you have people on you and just looking up but still handling the ball. It’s a lot.”

Question: Which one of your teammates would you say is the funniest and why?

Answer: “I’d say Camille. Camille’s definitely the funniest.”

Question: What was the best part about your Christmas?

Answer: “Just not having school and getting to spend time with my family.”

Question: If you could be in any movie, which one would you be in and why?

Answer: “I think Rush Hour’s pretty funny. I’d say Rush Hour just cause it’s a funny movie and a lot of action going on.”

Question: How far would you like to take basketball?

Answer: “I would like to eventually play in college if I end up getting offers.”

Question: What’s your best memory as a student/athlete at La Grange?

Answer: “Probably going to playoffs for volleyball and experiencing all of that.” Trlicek is already playing at a high level with plenty of time to continue at this pace.
