Flatonia Powerlifting Shines at Regional Meets

Flatonia Girls Powerlifting competed at the Region 5 meet in Edinburg on Monday 2/28. Guadalupe Mendiola finished first in the 181 lbs. weight class of the 1A/2A division with a total of 1020 lbs. Aubree Mikulenka finished second in the 148 lbs weight class of the 1A/2A division with a total of 705 lbs. Aaliyah Mendez finished fifth in the 123 lbs. weight class of the 1A/2A division with a total of 630 lbs. Guadalupe and Aubree qualified for the Girls State Meet that will be held on March 16th in Corpus Christi.

Flatonia Boys Powerlifting competed in the Region 4 meet on Saturday March 5 at West Hardin High School. Tadan Alvarado finished first in the SHW class with a total of 1585 lbs. Davon Walles finished second in the 308 weight class with a total of 1305 lbs. Gentry Doyle finished second in the 132 lbs. weight class with a total of 850 lbs. Aiden Gonzales finished 3rd in the 165 lbs weight class with a total of 1165 lbs. Phillip Ramirez finished fourth in the 181 lbs. weight class with a total of 1100 lbs. Tadan, Davon and Gentry all qualified for the Boys State Meet that will be held on March 25 in Abilene. Aiden and Phillip are both alternate to State. The boys team finished as the Regional Runner-up with a total of 22 points. Somerville was the team champion with a total of 25 points.
