Flatonia Elementary Has Bicycle Helmet Event
On Friday, May 21, Flatonia Elementary had their bicycle helmet program for our first grade class. For this program, Mr. Derek Smith, an avid bike rider, gave a short presentation about bicycle safety. All 42 1st grade students received bicycle helmets, which were donated by the Flatonia Family Medical Center (McBroom Clinic) and Texas Medical Association/Hard Hats for Little Heads. Also, the Flatonia Lions Club purchased and donated 42 (20 inch) bicycles for each first grade student. The program ended with juice and donuts provided by the Flatonia National Bank. The goal of this Bicycle Helmet program is to promote the importance of exercise and bicycle safety. The event was coordinated by Robin Branecky, Flatonia ISD Director of Federal and State Programs and Coach Sue Smith, Elementary PE Teacher.
