Flatonia Beats Shorthorns by 35 for Sixth Win in a Row
In a battle between Fayette County teams on opposite ends of the district standings, Flatonia pounded Schulenburg 42-7 Friday. For the Bulldogs it was their sixth win in a row as they improved to 7-1 overall and 4-0 in district. Schulenburg, meanwhile, remains winless this season.
Friday’s game was scoreless through the first quarter before Flatonia exploded for 21 points in the second quarter. Quarterback Fidel Venegas threw for 180 yards and three touchdowns Friday and also ran for a touchdown. Jaidyn Guyton caught two of those touchdown passes and also added a 95-yard kick-off return for a touchdown, and a 29-yard touchdown run. Keyshaun Green also caught a touchdown pass for Flatonia. Schulenburg’s only score came in the third quarter on a 30-yard touchdown pass from Aaron Janecek to Kenny Schramek.
Flatonia is off this week, but Schulenburg plays at Weima, a team also looking for its first district win. The Wildcats are 2-6 overall and 0-4 in district.
