Fayetteville, Flatonia March Into Third Round; SHS and RTC Fall

Lady Dogs Roll

The Flatonia girls basketball team overcame some early struggles and used a dominant fourth quarter to beat Mumford 54-40 Thursday in the second round of the 2A playoffs.

Summer Sodek scored 28 points and had ten rebounds in Thursday’s game for Flatonia. Kalen Scott scored 18, Jalee Trussell four, and Abbie Uzzell and Eliana Herrera each scored two.

The Lady Bulldogs (who are now 34-3 overall), advance to face Refugio (25-9) in the regional semifinals Monday at 6:30 p.m. in Yoakum.

Fayetteville Wins

The Fayetteville girls basketball team won their second round playoff game Friday, beating D’Hanis 40-30.

The Lady Lions are now 20-14 overall and advance to face Broaddus in the third round Tuesday at 6 p.m. in Centerville.

RTC Loses

Nueces Canyon ended Round Top-Carmine’s girls basketball season Thursday in the second round, beating the Cubettes 43-19.

The RTC girls end their season with a 12-12 record.
