Diggs Breaks School Record in the 200 Meters at Rice Meet

La Grange will host the Leopard Relays High School track meet this Thursday March 2. Field events begin at 3:45 p.m.; Running begins around 5:30.

Austen Diggs, a La Grange High School junior broke the school record Thursday in the 200 meter run at the Rice Consolidated track meet. Diggs got 1st place, and he ran a personal best of 21.68. (Trey East ran a 21.7 when he was here. He now runs at the University of Houston).

Also, Diggs got first place in the 100 with a personal best of 10.89. He also anchored the first place 4x100 relay team, which included Jaden Williams, C.J. Davis and Lekavion Broussard.

Other local highlights from the meet include:

Flatonia’s Oscar Guerrero won the 400 meters with a time of 54.02.

Kobe Burton of Flatonia won the shot put with a throw of 48-0.

Flatonia’s Zach Charanza won the discus with a throw of 131-9.

On the girls side, La Grange’s Kylie Trlicek won the 200 meters with a time of 27.47.

Landri Hernandez of La Grange won the 400 meters with a time of 1:03.05.

La Grange’s Lyndie Edson won the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 18.10.

The La Grange girls 4x400 relay won first with a time of 4:20.65. That team included Landri Hernandez, Eleanor Carey, Ellee Sodolak and Diamond McKenzie.

RileyYouens of La Grange won the shot put with a throw of 35-1.

La Grange will host their home track meet this Thursday.
