C.J. Davis Sprints to Athlete of the Week Honors

La Grange senior running back C.J. Davis had a night to remember in the Leopards’ third consecutive win. In last Friday’s 50-18 victory against Gonzales, Davis rushed for a career-high 150 yards to go along with two rushing touchdowns. He also added an 80-yard kick off return for a touchdown. “He’s a kid that we know has had that kind of ability,” said La Grange head football coach Matt Kates. “It’s kind of like he and Jakobe are switching games, then Jaden’s in the mix too in a big way, so it’s pretty awesome to have that many bullets. Hard work pays off and he’s done a heck of a job of biding his time. When he got an opportunity the other night, he cashed in on it. Hopefully we get a few more of those in him and see how long we can take this thing.” Davis’ memorable night has landed him the spot for this edition’s Player of the Week.

Question: What was the recipe behind your career night?

Answer: “That night was just go out, have fun. Just in the back of my house running around. That night was the best night I could have.”

Question: Who’s a college or pro running back you look up to?

Answer: “Right now, I look up to Alvin Kamara. He and Barry Sanders are the running backs I really look up to.”

Question: How fast can you run a 40-yard dash?

Answer: “I would say about

4.5.”

Question: Where do you see yourself 10 years from now?

Answer: “I see myself in the NFL. If not, then another job is probably a doctor or something like that.”

Question: If you could eat at one restaurant of your choice, which one would you choose and why?

Answer: “I would say Raising Cane’s. Raising Cane’s got some good bread and their sauce is really good.”

Question: Would you skydive for fun or would someone have to pay you to skydive if you wanted to at all? If someone had to pay you, how much would it have to be?

Answer: “I would do it just for fun.”

Question: What’s your favorite video game and why?

Answer: “I would say 2k just because me and my brother used to just compete against each other on there.”

Question: If you were awarded a trip to Disney World, where’s the first place you would go or which character would you go see first?

Answer: “Mickey Mouse.”

Question: How does football help you in everyday life?

Answer: “It just relaxes me and clears my head from everything else that’s going on in the world.”

Question: How would you describe the culture of La Grange football?

Answer: “I’d say it’s good. Good chemistry and everything, so not too bad.”

Davis is a key part of a lethal rushing attack that has La Grange football on a nice roll.
