AMEN Served 348 Families in June

AMEN appreciates all in the community that provided food aid for June. This would include all that provided monetary donations, food drives and the AMEN Gardens. The gardeners have been providing beets, kale, carrots and many other leafy vegetables. As noted the numbers served have increased for the summer months with school no longer in session.

Colorado Valley Communications (CVCTX), a company proudly rooted in Texas, is thrilled to announce that its name will appear on the new food court at the Fayette County Fairgrounds, symbolizing decades of dedication to the local community and the Fayette County Fair Association. The old food court, the German-Czech Mart, was bulldozed several months ago.

County Declares Illegal Immigration ‘Disaster’ to Tap Into Grant Funds

Fayette County Commissioners Court passed a disaster declaration concerning illegal immigration at their meeting last Thursday, June 26. The declaration will allow Fayette County to qualify for grant funding through Operation Lone Star, the State of Texas’ task force to stop human smuggling, drug smuggling and illegal immigration across the southern border.

Unpaid Livestock Show Bills Hurting Kids

Lots of youth exhibitors from the Fayette County Junior Livestock Show are having to wait for their hardearned dollars. The show took place back in March. Last Wednesday, organizers announced on Facebook that the sale checks were printed but very few could be released because so many buyers had not paid their bill.

This year there will not be a 4th of July parade and picnic in the park. No one wanted to come out and help organize the celebration, so this fun community gathering has been cancelled. Please be safe while out and about over this holiday weekend and keep an eye out for your neighbors.

Fayetteville City-Wide Garage Sale Set July 12

As is tradition, the Fayetteville Lions Club’s City-Wide Garage Sale will be held the second Saturday in July. This year, it’s on Saturday, July 12 beginning at 8 a.m. Anyone wishing to rent a 12’x12’ space on the square can call the Greater Fayetteville Chamber of Commerce at (979) 378-2800 or email info@greaterfayettevillechamber. org. The French Horn Spoke To Laredo’s Hernandez

At the mere question of what type of instrument he plays, Javier Hernandez, a French horn player at this year’s Round Top Music Festival, lit up, and a smile immediately crossed his face. For Laredo born Hernandez, it was love at first sight when he saw the French horn.
