Aleyn Voss to Celebrate 100th Birthday Sunday

Aleyn (Albers) Voss was born on May 14, 1923 near Round Top, Texas, the daughter of Elo and Agnes (Voelkel) Albers. As a child she lived in Oldenberg where her parents had a hatchery for chickens.

Tales of Texas Heroes: Sheriff Jim Flournoy

The Texas Heroes Museum honors Texas veterans from the Texas Revolution to present. We also honor other Texans who serve and sacrifice for the community, including law enforcement, firefighters, first responders, and paramedics. We have recreated a “sheriff’s office” in the same room that was used by the first five sheriffs in the Old Jail.

Situational Awareness Class Draws Large Crowd in Ellinger

E There was a free situational awareness class led by instructor Officer Tammy Jo McCleney this past Sunday. The class was held at the chamber hall and was sponsored by City of Ellinger, Ellinger Volunteer Fire Department, and the Ellinger Chamber of Commerce.

Live Dueling Piano Show May 27 in Round Top

OP News Rock the Halls live dueling piano show is set for Saturday, May 27 from 6:30 to 10:30 p.m. at the Round Top Dance Hall, with 100 percent of net proceeds benefiting the Ride to End Alzeheimer’s, The Round Top Family Library, and the Round TopArea Historical Society.

Herb Society of America Meets In Brenham

In April, the Pioneer Unit of the Herb Society of America met at the Brenham Presbyterian Church for a presentation by the Pioneer Unit Culinary Group, led by Belinda Weatherly, on the results of their year-long study of Herbs of the Mediterranean.
