Swing Into RT Dance Event to Benefit Local Communities & Historic Preservation Efforts

Texas Dance Hall Preservation, Inc. (TDHP) is excited to announce its upcoming Swing Into Round Top swing dance on June 24. The event, featuring live music from the Texas Country Music Award’s 2022 “Western Swing Band of the Year,” The Broken Spokes, will be held at the Round Top Dance Hall and is expected to attract around 350 people from across the state.

Three Locals Graduate from Sam Houston

Sam Houston State University in Huntsville announced the names of recent graduates from the area. The following area students received degrees during the Spring semester at Sam Houston State University: Haley Guerrero of Fayetteville, Bachelor of Science, Agricultural Communications Alyssa Vaclavik of La Grange, Bachelor of Music.

Shimek Retiring From Schulenburg PD

Betty Shimek retired last week from the Schulenburg Police Department after 22 years of service as the department’s administrative assistant. “What I’ve enjoyed the most is working with so many men and a few women, so many different personalities, I can’t even name them all,” Shimek said.
