Serbin LWML Collecting School Kit Donations
The ladies of Serbin LWML are collecting donations to make school kits for Orphan Grain Train. Items needed include spiral notebooks, pencils, pens, sheets of construction paper, 24 count crayons, ruler, glue sticks, scissors, rectangular erasers, 12-count colored pencils, pencil sharpeners, single pocket folders and cash to help cover cost of shipping, are also appreciated. Church Picnic, Wendish Fest Holy Cross Church Picnic will be held Sunday, Sept. 6 in Warda and the 38th Annual Wendish Fest to be held on Sunday, Sept. 27 in Serbin.
Serbin Jackrabbits
The Serbin Jackrabbits Baseball Team won the Community League Championship 15-0 against Flatonia.
Family Fun Day
Tejas Camp and Retreat Center will be hosting a Free Family Fun Day on Sunday, Aug. 9 from 3-7 p.m. This will be an afternoon filled with great food, exciting activities and wonderful time together. Free burgers will be provided by Feed The Need. Activities will include swimming in the lake and pool, climbing wall and zipline, as well as ax throwing and plenty activities for all ages. No RSVP is needed, children 17 and under must be accompanied by an adult, no drop-offs. Bring sunscreen, towels (if swimming), dry change of clothing and close toed shoes if you are doing the climbing wall or zip lines.
VFD Annual BBQ
South Lee County Volunteer Fire Department will have their 46th Annual BBQ on Saturday, Aug. 8 at the Serbin Picnic Grounds. BBQ will be available to go at 4:30 p.m. at the pits. From 5-7:30 p.m., beef and pork barbecue plates with all the trimmings will be available for a free will donation. Silent Auction will be from 3-6 p.m., The Blue Sunset Band will play from 3:30-6:30 p.m., and kids barrel train rides will be from 5-8:30 p.m. There will be a live auction beginning at 6:30 p.m. All proceeds go towards updating fire equipment.
Bluff Creek Ranch
Bluff Creek Ranch in Warda will host the Blazing Saddles all day race on Aug. 15.
Sewing Circle at Holy Cross
The Sewing Circle meets each Thursday from 9 a.m.noon in the old parish hall at Holy Cross in Warda. This is around the back side of the church. No experience is necessary and you do not have to be a church member to join this fun group. Contact the church office at (979) 242-3333 if you have any questions.
Game Day at Holy Cross
The next Game Day at Holy Cross in Warda will be held Thursday, Aug. 20 from noon-2 p.m. A light lunch is served. There is no cost to attend and everyone is welcome. Games of bingo and dominoes are offered.
Warda Little Free Library
The Warda Little Free Library is located under the covered walkway to the fellowship hall at Holy Cross Church. There is a very nice selection of children’s and adult books and puzzles. Please feel free to stop by and borrow a book or puzzle and leave one. It is free for everyone to use.
Holy Cross Services
Services at Holy Cross Lutheran are Sunday at 9 a.m. Bible Class and Sunday school follows the morning service.

Wednesday Bible Study
The Wednesday Morning Bible Study group will take a break during the month of July and resume Aug. 5.
