    RT-C ISD Announces Summer Sports Camps

Round Top-Carmine ISD will host a variety of sports camps throughout the summer.

Strength and conditioning for incoming seventh through twelfth grades will be held Mondays through Thursdays beginning at 8 a.m. and is free. There will be no camp July 6-10.

Summer skill work is also for incoming seventh through twelfth grades, is free, and begins at 9:30 a.m. Baseball and volleyball are Mondays and Wednesdays; while, basketball is Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Basketball camp will be June 23 and 24 and requires registration by June 9 to receive a camp gift. Cost is $60 and may be paid by check or Venmo. That schedule includes: 1st-4th grades from 9-11 a.m.; 5th-8th grades-11 a.m.-1 p.m.; and 9th-12th grades-1:30-4:30 p.m. on June 23-25.

Volleyball Camp costs $60 and requires registration by July 8 to receive a camp gift. The schedule is: 1st-4th grades-12 a.m.-2 p.m. July 29 and 30; 5th-8th grades-2-4 p.m., July 29 and 30; 9th-12th grades-8:30-11:30 a.m. on July 30 and 8:30-11:30 a.m. and 12:30-2:30 p.m.-July 31.

Baseball Camp costs $60 and requires registration by July 20 to receive a camp gift. The schedule is 1st-4th grades-9:30-11:30 a.m., August 4 and 5; 5th-8th grades-12:30-2:30 p.m., August 4 and 5; and 9th-12th grades-3:30-6:30 p.m., Aug. 4-6.

The RT-C administrative offices will be open May 28Aug. 3 from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Offices will be closed for the Fourth of July holiday from June 29-July 5.

Dumpster Days 

The City of Carmine is sponsoring Dumpster Days on June 13 and 14. On Saturday, the hours are 8 a.m.-4 p.m. and on Sunday, 8 a.m.-12 p.m. It will be located at City Hall, 260 Luther Lane, Carmine. A truck load will be $25 and trailer loads are $50. You must unload yourself.

Dumpster Days are for Carmine residents only with proof of residency.

Prohibited items include tires, household hazardous waste such as paint, oil, chemicals, and pesticides, refrigerators, and E-waste such as computers, monitors, and household electronic items with internal components like mercury and other heavy metals.

Bingo Party in Ledbetter 

The next Bingo party in Ledbetter will be on June 21, which is the third Sunday due to the Ledbetter Homecoming celebration being on the second Sunday. Doors open at 1:15 p.m. with games to be played from 2-4 p.m. A $5 card covers all games with prizes awarded for each game.

Snacks and drinks are available for a donation.

Food Bank Truck 

The Central Texas Food Bank Truck will be in the parking lot of Waldeck Lutheran Church on June 20 from 10-11 a.m. The location is near the intersection of FM 1291 and FM 2145.

Food distribution will be drive-thru method. Clients need to clean out the back seats, trunks, and truck beds to make room for the boxed food. It is for Fayette County residents.

MLLC News 

Senior Citizens meet on Wednesday from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. in the Mission & Ministry Building.

AA meets Saturday at 8:30 a.m.

Sunday School meets Sunday at 9 a.m.

Worship with Holy Communion, observing the Second Sunday after Pentecost, is Sunday at 10 a.m. The Rev. Bonnie Parker will serve as the guest pastor.

The Women of the ELCA Salad Supper is June 3 at 6 p.m.

Vacation Bible School is scheduled for June 14-18 with the closing on June 21.

Carmine Visitors’ Center The Carmine Chamber of Commerce Visitors’ Center at the restored Train Depot and Museum is open on the second Friday and Saturday of the month from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. It is located at 248 E Sylvan, Carmine, TX 78932, which is on the south side of Highway 290.
