Round Top Festival Institute Seeks Volunteers & Docents
Festival Hill is more than a performance venue, it is a carefully created “musical landscape,” where music, architecture, and history unfold across a unique campus in Round Top. Founded in 1971 by James Dick, the Institute has grown into a place filled with stories waiting to be told, and you can be part of bringing them to life.
Applications are now being accepted for the Fall 2026 Volunteer and Docent Training Program, beginning Tuesday, September 15, 2026, on the historic Festival Hill campus in Round Top.
Join an outstanding volunteer organization that supports the work of the Round Top Festival Institute. Docents are trained to lead guided tours of the Festival Hill campus, its historic buildings, and its unique museum room collections throughout the year. Volunteers also have opportunities to assist with concert performances, a wonderful way to support your community while enjoying worldclass classical music.
Docents serve as a welcoming resource for both local and international visitors, helping to answer questions and providing insight into the history, architecture, and collections of Festival Hill.
Participation includes a six-week training course designed to be both educational and enjoyable. The program explores the history of the Institute, the architecture of the Festival Concert Hall, and the many distinctive buildings and collections across campus. Classes are held on select Tuesdays from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., with lunch provided. Led by Library and Museum Collections Curator Lamar Lentz, along with experienced staff and docents, sessions take place in the Service Building and throughout the campus, offering participants a hands-on introduction to the Institute’s rich history and resources.
This course is fun, engaging, and a wonderful way to meet new people while becoming part of a vibrant cultural community.
