Campbell, Heimsath Seek Place 3 Seat as Fayetteville City Council Election Approaches

Todd Campbell and John Heimsath are vying for the City Council position in Place 3, which incumbent Kathy Griffith is vacating. Allen Jurecka (Place 1) and Debbie Lincke (Place 5) are running unopposed for the remaining two seats.

Early voting takes place April 20 to April 28 in La Grange. Note that Tuesday, April 21, was San Jacinto Day and polls were not open. The polls in Fayetteville will be open on Saturday, May 2 at Fayetteville City Hall from 7 a.m. - 7 p.m.

Arts for Rural Texas 

Arts for Rural Texas invites artists to a national art competition and gallery exhibition. All media is welcome and the deadline to enter is Friday, May 1 at 4 p.m. Submissions for the competition, “America the Beautiful,” may explore historical events, cultural traditions, iconic landscapes, everyday life, national symbols or the personal narratives that define the American spirit.

Selected works will be featured in a juried exhibit at ARTS Ross Gallery. Over $6,000 in awards will be presented. Online entry forms and more information can be found at www.artsforruraltexas. org/america.

Shakespeare at Winedale The Shakespeare at Winedale production of “The Winter’s Tale” this Friday and Saturday will include University of Texas junior Lauren Bull, daughter of Tom and Sara Bull. The free performance begins at 7:30 p.m. Freewill donations are welcome.

St. Paul Lutheran Church 

St. Paul Lutheran holds services on Sundays at 10:30 a.m. Services are recorded every week, rotating among four SLM churches and posted on the Facebook page for the Shared Lutheran Ministry of Fayette County.

St. John the Baptist Catholic 

St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Fayetteville holds Mass Saturdays at 5 p.m., and Sunday’s at 10 a.m.

St. Mary Catholic Church 

St. Mary Catholic Church in Ellinger holds Mass on Sunday’s at 8 a.m.

Fayetteville Brethren 

Worship services at Fayetteville Brethren are held on the second, third and fourth Saturday of every month at 10 a.m. An adult Bible Study is held before the worship service from 9 to 9:45 a.m.
