Weber
Dorothy Weber, 92, of West Point passed away peacefully on Friday April 10, 2026. She was a resident at Regency Nursing and Rehabilitation for the past year. Dorothy was born in Fayette County on April 25, 1933, and grew up in the West Point area. She lived in the La Grange area most of her life. Her parents were Lester A. Votaw and Paulina Reiss Votaw.
On Dec. 28, 1948, she married Alfred P. Weber at Zion Lutheran Church in La Grange and they celebrated 67 years of marriage until Alfred’s passing on July 3, 2016. She was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in 1949. She was a current member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in La Grange.
Dorothy was a passionate gardener and seamstress. She loved working in her huge gardens and enjoyed canning every vegetable and fruit possible. She was involved in all aspects of running the family ranch, including working cattle, fixing fences, baling hay and taking care of all the other animals. She did all this while working a full-time job outside the home. In whatever spare time she had, she sewed most of her and her children’s clothes. When she decided to retire, she spent her time taking care of the jobs involved in everyday life on the ranch. She was a loving, kind, and nurturing person who used her talents to teach her children and grandchildren the art of sewing, cooking, making jelly and many other activities. In the last several years, she enjoyed sewing quilt tops with a mission group at church.
Dorothy leaves to cherish her memories four children: Elaine Smith (Garland) of Houston, Leroy Weber (Cindy) of West Point, Mary Targac (Deacon Joey) of Hallettsville and Annie Chapman (special friend Darrell) of Schulenburg ; five grandchildren: Chris Targac (Misty), Melissa Sommer (James), Matt Targac (Valerie), Jason Weber (Marivel), Ashley Morris (Shawn) and Dawn Jardine (Brian); two step-grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; five step-great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren with an additional one arriving soon; two sisters-in-law: Dorothy Drab and Gladys Weber; and numerous nieces and nephews.
