Elsie (Franta) Vasek, 89, of Plum, passed away on Thursday, May 6, 2021.

Elsie was born in Plum on March 3, 1932, the daughter of Ludwig and Frances Anna (Kovar) Franta. She married Max Vasek on Feb. 16, 1960 at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Plum.

She worked as a bookkeeper at the Morgan Store in Plum and later worked at the Plum U.S. Post Office. Elsie worked on the farm alongside her husband raising cattle and raising crops in their fields.

Elsie was a long-time member of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church.

She is survived by three nieces: Darlene Bertsch and companion, Larry Stolar, of Columbus; Betty Bauer of Georgetown; Frances Doherty of San Antonio; one nephew: Mark Bertsch, Sr. and wife, Tina, of Glidden, and their son, Mark Bertsch, Jr. of Sealy; sister-in-law, Evelyn Vasek of La Grange.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Max Vasek, who passed away on Nov. 14, 2001; sister, Dorothy Bertsch and husband, Clarence; grandparents, Joseph and Anna Kovar.

A visitation will be held from 12 to 1:30 p.m. followed by a rosary beginning at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 12, 2021 at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 126 Plum Church Rd., Plum. Funeral Services will follow beginning at 2 p.m. with burial at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 936 FM 2436, La Grange, TX 78945 or Hospice Brazos Valley, 1048 N. Jefferson St., La Grange, TX 78945.
