Felix George Stavinoha, Sr., 82, of High Hill passed away June 20, 2021.

On Feb. 21, 1939, Felix was born to Elizabeth and Edmund Stavinoha Sr. in La Grange. He was raised amid a dozen siblings in Ammannsville. On Aug. 24, 1957, he married his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, Gladys Kosler. They resided in Houston where Felix was partners in a carpenter business with Fred Muras - F&F Trim.

They started a family right away raising five children, Dennis, Sandra, Sue, Felix Jr., and Shelly. They enjoyed family vacations to Colorado, Florida, New Mexico, Jamaica, Mexico, and many Caribbean Islands. Felix and Gladys also explored their heritage in Germany and the Czech Republic.

On the weekends they went to the farm in High Hill where they retired. Felix enjoyed farming - baling hay and growing corn, cotton, and milo. He raised cattle, then migrated into raising exotic animals, while mending fences and still having time for a splash of Crown and Pepsi on the front porch.

Felix was never seen without his cowboy hat on, cigar in his mouth, and a smile on his face while he gave you a hard time.

They also enjoyed attending church picnics, polka and waltzing at dances, going gambling, and having coffee every morning at Oakridge Smokehouse. Felix loved and lived for the holidays when his children, grand, and great-grandchildren would come to the farm to spend time together. There was never a dull moment!

After 59 years and a lifetime of happiness with Gladys, her time had come to be with the Lord, which was a very sad and lonely time for Felix.

A few years later he met Gloria Konvicka and they married on Feb. 15, 2020. Felix and Gloria did a lot together in a short time. They enjoyed working out at the gym, attending church picnics, anniversaries, last minute road trips to casinos, and visiting and eating with the family.

Felix’s life came to an end very unexpectedly and he will be missed by many. He was one of a kind and the rock of our family.
