Standard
Daron Standard was born on Aug. 8, 1965, in Gatesville, Texas, to the late Byron Leroy Standard and Florene “Toby” Standard, Hill. He spent his childhood between Florence and Evant, Texas, moving to Evant in the sixth grade. He graduated from Evant High School in 1983, where he enjoyed sports and FFA.
In October 1983, Daron joined the Texas National Guard, proudly serving until his honorable discharge in September 1990.
Daron married his high school sweetheart, Cindy Parrish Standard, on August 18, 1984. He often shared that from the very first time he saw Cindy, he knew he really liked her—although he also admitted he found her a little intimidating. What began as a high school love grew into more than four decades of marriage, family, memories, and a life built together.
In January 1991, Daron began his career with BASF in Freeport, Texas. He remained there until his retirement in November 2021. Throughout his many years at BASF, Daron formed lasting friendships and truly enjoyed the people with whom he worked.
Together, Daron and Cindy raised three children: Skylar, Cullen, and Chandy. Being a husband and father was one of the greatest joys of Daron’s life. Between sports, FFA projects, school functions, and everything that came with raising three children, life was rarely quiet—and he wouldn’t have had it any other way.
Daron was especially proud that each of his children became proficient at operating their own boats at a young age. To him, it was about much more than boating. He believed it taught them responsibility, independence, and the importance of looking out for the safety of themselves and others.
As proud as he was to be a father, becoming “Pop” brought another special kind of joy to his life. Daron and Cindy were blessed with five grandchildren: Brylee, Tilden, Trace, Braelynn, and Jensyn. He was immensely proud of each of them and treasured the time he was able to spend with them.
Daron is survived by his beloved wife, Cindy Parrish Standard; his children, Skylar Wayne Standard and wife Katie, Cullen Raye Standard and wife Amanda, and Chandy Lynn Arceneaux and wife Meaghan; and his grandchildren, Brylee, Tilden, Trace, Braelynn, and Jensyn Standard.
He is also survived by his brothers, Gary Standard and wife Irene, James Standard and wife Susan, and Byron Standard and wife Mary; his sister, Nancy Kanetzky and husband Tommy; his sisters-in-law, Donna and husband Ray Bonnet and Ronda and husband Rick Freeman; as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
Daron was preceded in death by his parents, Byron Leroy Standard and Florene “Toby” Standard; his sister, Joyce Elder, and her husband, Johnny Elder; his mother-inlaw, Treva Parrish; his fatherin- law, Wayne Parrish; and his brother-in-law, Steve Monson.
Daron will be remembered as a devoted husband, a loving father, a proud Pop, a brother, an uncle, a friend, and the steady presence his family could depend upon. His life was built around the people he loved, and the lessons, stories, traditions, and memories he leaves behind will continue through the generations that follow him.
Visitation will be on Thursday, Oct. 8, 2026 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Palms Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at 12 p.m. Burial will be on Friday, Oct. 9, 2026 at 11 a.m. at Smith Cemetery at School Creek in Lampasas.
Where there is deep grief, there was great love. And Daron was deeply loved.
Though his earthly journey has ended, the love Daron gave his family remains. His legacy lives in his children, his grandchildren, and every life made better simply because he was part of it.
And for those who knew Daron’s love for AC/DC, perhaps it’s only fitting that somewhere beyond this life, the bells are ringing as he makes his way home.
Forever loved. Forever remembered. Forever Pop.
