Shimek
“The kindest person you could ever know.”
On February 16 James Craig Shimek of Fayetteville entered into the heavenly kingdom. He was 61 years old. He is survived by his wife Linda to whom he was completely devoted.
Born in Houston on December 19, 1959, Jim spent his youth in the neighborhoods of West University Place. He attended West University Elementary School, Pershing Junior High School and Lamar High School.
On his Facebook page he described himself as “The kindest person you could ever know.” Truer words could not be spoken about this gentle soul.
He was well known by all as a friendly, genuine, generous, loving, kind spirit. Jim truly loved people and to him everyone was a friend. Those meeting him for the first time soon felt like they had known him for years. His personal warmth and friendly demeanor were genuine expressions of his big kind heart.
Jim and Linda lived for years in Houston and Arlington, Texas. They have been coming to Fayetteville for over 25 years, finally settling in here as full-time members of the community. Jim truly loved the town of Fayetteville and it’s people. He also loved the surrounding countryside and spent many pleasurable hours driving the local country roads.
Jim’s working career included more than 20 years as an appliance service specialist for AABC Appliance of Houston. His knowledgeable and friendly customer service made him a favorite of customers and coworkers alike.
Jim is survived by his wife Linda Heiskell, his mother Phyllis Bryan of Houston, his brother Michael Sutherland of Houston, and his sister Laura Howard of Columbus, Georgia. Jim was preceded in death by his brother Mark Shimek of Austin.
Fayetteville has lost a lovely person. Jim will be missed by all who knew him.
