Francis “Frank” DePaul Schindler, 86, of Schulenburg entered into Eternal Rest on Thursday, Jan. 13, 2022.

Frank was born at home in Schulenburg on April 2, 1935. The fourth of five children, he attended St. Rose School and then graduated from Schulenburg High School in 1953. He entered the United States Air Force and was stationed in Japan. Frank served in the Korean War and also played baseball for the military baseball team while overseas. After his military service, he returned to Houston to attend the University of Houston.

In 1965, Frank was an original founding member of Texas Mill Supply in Galena Park. It was this leap that would make an indelible mark on many of his future employees and customers. Texas Mill Supply became a leading Industrial Distribution company that serviced the Gulf Coast Region of the United States. Frank’s personality and ability to never meet a stranger was a huge asset that served his company well. He also was an investor and loved “finding a deal”.

Retiring in 2000, Frank focused his energy, which he had a tremendous amount of, on artistic endeavors. He would stay busy by building brass churches for church picnics, building rock stairways and patios, and most certainly by attending his grandchildren’s sports competitions.

Frank is survived by his loving wife, Jerlyn Tietjen Schindler; five children: Debbie Condon and husband, Rob of Houston, Keith Schindler and wife, Brenda of Berlin Heights, OH, Mark Schindler and wife, Joy of Schulenburg, Shane Hollas and wife, Tonia of Schulenburg, and Judd Hollas of Austin; three granddaughters, Kelly Condon, Suzanne Schindler, and Brynlee Hollas; seven grandsons, Christopher Condon, Clayton Condon, Craig Condon, Ryan Schindler, Justin Schindler, Jackson Schindler, and Jase Hollas; four greatgrandchildren, Kyle Condon, Caroline Condon, Clara Condon, and Graham Condon.

Frank was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Rose (Kasper) Schindler, sister Marie Skalka, and brothers Alfred, Leroy, and Daniel Schindler.

Funeral Services will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in High Hill at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 29, 2022. Visitation will be from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at the church. A Rosary will be prayed at 10:30 a.m. prior to the funeral service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Rose School in Schulenburg, or the St. Mary’s High Hill Restoration Fund, or a charity of one’s choice.
