Funeral services for Melba (Bernshausen) Reisner, 76, were held on Tuesday, June 22, 2021 at the Earthman Resthaven Funeral Home at 13102 North Freeway in Houston at 1 p.m. Deacon Will led the rosary and conducted the funeral service at the chapel and the burial at Earthman Cemetery at 3 p.m.
Melba was born in Roznov on Sept. 11, 1944 to Henry and Iola (Schmidt) Bernshausen. She attended Fayetteville School for a few years before her family moved to Baytown, where she graduated from Robert E. Lee High School. She loved to dance and that’s when she met the love of her life at Bill Mraz Dance Hall in Houston. Melba and Anton Reisner were married June 4, 1966. Melba’s hobbies were doing ceramics, jigsaw puzzles, embroidering, playing Bingo, baking, and dancing!
Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Anton Reisner of Sealy; one son, Charles and his wife Lisa, and one grandson, Matthew of Houston.
Also surviving are four sisters,Virginia Fritsch and husband Adrian of Columbus, Violet Krenek of Fayetteville, Stephine Zucha and husband James of Baytown, Judy Catasein and husband Jay of Paden, West Virginia; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Mary Bernshausen of Baytown and numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
Melba is preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Gertrude Hill and husband Jack of Baytown; one brother, Henry H. Bernshausen of Baytown; one brother-in-law, Robert E. Krenek Sr. of Fayetteville; and an infant daughter, Lisa of Houston.
Melba is also preceded in death by her grandparents Erwin and Emma (Gerdes) Schmidt of Fayetteville and Richard and Emma (Kuecker) of the Latium community.
