Brenda Gail Goebel was born on Feb. 15, 1949, in Houston and passed away on March 28, 2026, in La Grange, after a courageous but brief battle with cancer.

Brenda’s life was guided and blessed by love through her strong faith in Jesus. Brenda had a true servant’s heart and deep love and devotion to her family and community.

She was born to Albert and Florence Goebel, who preceded her in death, and spent her early years attending Peace Lutheran School in Galena Park. She graduated as salutatorian from Galena Park High School in 1967 and went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts from Baylor University in 1971.

After college, Brenda worked in Houston. While visiting family in Winchester during the Fayette County Fair, she met her future husband, George Allen Rainosek. They were married for 52 years and built a life together rooted in faith, family, and hard work. They settled in La Grange and were blessed with one daughter, Mandi. She was the light of Brenda’s life and was a highly involved mother and guide to Mandi.

Brenda began working as a secretary before she and George began building their businesses together. Through the decades Brenda and George owned and operated several Central Texas movie theaters and in 1984 they opened the Westwood Cinema 6 in Brenham, still operated by the family. Brenda handled the financial operations of the theatre businesses and served as the buyer and booker for over 50 years. She stayed actively involved up until her diagnosis and never once talked about retiring.

Brenda also had a lifelong love of music. She began playing the church organ at Peace Lutheran Church at the age of twelve. She played piano and sang in the choir for many years, serving Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church as an organist, choir director, and vocalist.

Brenda served others through countless ways. She was deeply involved in the Pilot Club of La Grange, where she served through the years in many roles including Governor of the Texas District of Pilot International. One of her dearest loves was the Anchor Club of La Grange, a service organization for high school students. Through these groups, she helped support projects focused on the elderly, young readers, and individuals with physical and intellectual disabilities. A special part of that work was the “Time Well Spent with Special Friends” program, which created meaningful social opportunities for underserved members of the community.

Brenda is survived by her husband of 52 years, George Allen Rainosek; her daughter, Mandi Landreth, and husband Spencer Landreth; her grandchildren, Lincoln, George, and Connor Landreth; her sister, Tracy Fields Lee; brother-inlaw, Bob Lee; her uncle, Raymond Schultz; and numerous nephews, grandnephews, and grandnieces.

Those who knew Brenda will remember her as hardworking, faithful, and deeply caring. She lived a life centered on her family, her faith, and serving others, and she leaves behind a legacy that will continue through the many lives she touched.

A visitation was held on Monday, April 6, 2026, at Koenig-Belvill Funeral Home & Cremations of La Grange from 1-7 p.m. The family was present to receive friends from 5-7 p.m.
