Sarah Ann Qualman, of Winchester, passed away unexpectedly and peacefully in her sleep and was taken by her Lord Jesus Christ on Jan. 9, 2021.

Sarah was born on July 7, 1990 in Winter Haven, Fla. It was there that she was Baptized and Confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church where her father the Rev. Bill Qualman served as Pastor.

The family was blessed again in 1994 with the arrival of her brother Matthew. He dutifully fulfilled his sibling role by alternately serving as her best friend and her biggest annoyance while growing up. The bond and love they have shared has only increased as they became adults, and her absence in his and our lives will be very difficult.

As many Florida children do, Sarah learned to swim as an infant, and always enjoyed the water, especially when she discovered her love and skill at fishing. Surf fishing with her dad and brother was always a favorite activity during summer beach vacations.

Sarah graduated from Old Bridge High School after the family moved to New Jersey where her father became the Pastor of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. By that time in her life Sarah had developed a love for sewing, jewelry making, and crafts of many kinds. Her job after graduation at JoAnn Fabrics was a great fit for her talents and she enjoyed it very much.

A final move for the family from New Jersey to Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in La Grange, a few years later provided an opportunity for her to expand her new love of cooking as well as making new friends.

Outshining by far every other event in her life, however, was God’s blessing to her of her son Gabe in 2010. He adds such joy to the lives of all who know him, and his assurance of his Mom’s happiness in Heaven comforts us all.

Sarah is survived by her parents Rev. Bill and Lisa Qualman; her brother, Matt and his family Mey and Tommy; her beloved son Gabe; as well as extended family including aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, Jan. 16, 2021 from 12 to 5 p.m. at Koenig-Belvill Funeral Home & Cremations.

A private family service will be held.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be given to St. Michaels Lutheran Church, 710 Frio St., Winchester, TX 78945; Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, 800 N. Franklin St., La Grange, TX 78945; or the Epilepsy Foundation, 8301 Professional Place West Suite 230, Landover, MD 20785.

If we live, we live for the Lord; and if we die, we die for the Lord. So, whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord.
