Funeral services for Susie Proske, 87, of Giddings, were held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 6, 2020 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Giddings with Rev. Robert Tiner officiating. Burial followed in the Giddings City Cemetery.

Susie Laura (Schneider) Proske was born on Feb. 25, 1933 in Fedor, the daughter of Alvin Ernest Schneider and Gertie Elizabeth (Lay) Schneider. She was baptized on May 12, 1933 at St. James Lutheran Church in Lexington and confirmed on April 22, 1959 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Giddings. Her confirmation verse was Psalm 23:1, “The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want”. Susie was united in marriage to Elo Floyd Proske on March 31, 1951 at St. John Lutheran Church in Lincoln with Rev. H.A. Stroebel officiating. She was a loving and devoted homemaker, wife, mother and grandmother. Susie was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Giddings. She was meticulous in keeping a clean home and spent her time taking care of her flowers in her yard. She was a happy person who always had a smile on her face.

Susie passed away the morning of Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2020 in Hallettsville.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Alvin and Gertie Schneider; her husband, Elo Proske; three brothers, Erwin Schneider, Oswald Schneider, and Floyd Schneider and three sisters, Erma Iselt, Bertha Foerster, and Dorothy Schautschick.

Susie is survived by her five children, Otis Proske and his wife, Sharon of Ledbetter, Curtis Proske and his wife, Judy of Lexington, Delores Supak and her husband, Robert of Moulton, Ricky Proske and his wife, Sharon of Giddings and Michael Proske and his wife, Stacy of Giddings; twelve grandchildren, Chad Proske and his wife, Kristy of Ledbetter, Amy Proske and her husband, Jesse Sherman of Ledbetter, Jared Proske of Ledbetter, Curt Proske and his wife, Ashley of Houston, Courtney Abegglen and her husband, Matt of Houston, Robin Supak of Schulenburg, Brandy Wischnewsky and her husband, Brandon of Flatonia, Sara Prellop and her husband, Bruce of Giddings, Christopher Proske and his friend, Katy Luedke of Giddings, Vanessa Hohlt and her husband, Steve of Ledbetter, Nathan Proske of Giddings and Macy Proske of Giddings; twenty three great grandchildren, Toby Proske, Brooke Choyce, Dakota Proske, Riley Proske, Harper Proske and Bristol Proske all of Ledbetter, Anthony Sherman, Tieson Sherman and Kylie Cook all of Ledbetter, Wyatt Proske of Ledbetter, Bella Proske, Scarlett Proske, Jordyn Willits, and Braden Willits all of Houston, Aubrey Palmer and Addy Palmer both of Houston, Ashlyn Abegglen and Avery Abegglen both of Giddings, Colton Wischnewsky, Emma Wichnewsky, and Wyatt Wischnewsky all of Flatonia, and Alaina Hohlt and Emmalyn Hohlt both of Ledbetter; sistersin-law, Rose Proske of Houston and Gladys Schneider of Lincoln, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Serving as pallbearers were Chad Proske, Jared Proske, Curt Proske, Brandon Wischnewsky, Christopher Proske and Nathan Proske. Honorary pallbearers were Amy Proske, Courtney Abegglen, Robin Supak, Brandy Wischnewsky, Sara Prellop, Vanessa Hohlt, and Macy Proske.

Memorials may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church in Giddings, the Alzheimer’s Association or to the charity of one’s choice.
