Daniel Pietsch, 61, of La Grange, passed away on Friday, Oct. 1, 2021.

Daniel was born in La Grange on Jan. 28, 1960, the son of Elmo and Helen (Synatschk) Pietsch. He married Shelly (Weinert) Pietsch on Aug. 11, 1990 at Zion Lutheran Church in Brenham.

Daniel was a 1978 graduate of La Grange High School, and continued his education at Blinn College and Texas A&M University, where he graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanized Agriculture in 1984. He worked as a chemical lab technician at LCRA for 30 years until he retired. Daniel’s love for the outdoors brought him to a new job at Jordan Ranch after his retirement. Although not the working ranch he believed it to be when he applied, his work at Jordan Ranch brought him the greatest joy through fellowship with everyone he encountered and strengthening his Christian faith.

Daniel loved watching sports, especially if it involved the Aggies, Houston Astros or Dallas Cowboys. You could always find him on the sidelines cheering on his daughters, no matter the sport. Daniel loved to spend his time outdoors. He particularly enjoyed hunting, fishing, yardwork, and working cattle. Daniel was a dedicated husband and father. He treasured his family and proudly supported his daughters in all their endeavors. Daniel never met a stranger and was known for his dry humor and wit.

He is survived by his wife, Shelly, of 31 years; daughters: Kalie Pietsch of Dallas and Kyla Pietsch of College Station; brother, Dennis Pietsch and wife, Diann, of Giddings; sister, Elaine Kieschnick and husband, Curtis, of Warda; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Sherry and Robert Whitmarsh of Concord, Calif.; nephews and nieces, Ryan Pietsch, Zachary Pietsch, Stacie and Craig Mrozak, Matthew and Jaclyn Kieschnick, Derek and Alyssa Kieschnick, Elyse Whitmarsh and Ariana Whitmarsh, and numerous great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Milroy and Karel (Hinze) Weinert.
