Pfluger
James Craig Pfluger, 58, of La Grange, passed away peacefully at his home with his wife by his side, on Wednesday, Feb. 17, 2021.
James was born in Woodward, Okla. on Oct. 26, 1962, a son of the late Jewelene Dorothy (Prinz) and Glenwood Herbert (G.H.) Pfluger.
He married the love of his life, Sherry (Oltmann) Pfluger on Dec. 26, 2018 at the Colorado River Cowboy Church in Smithville. They enjoyed life to the fullest, traveling to the Colorado Rocky Mountains, Florida beaches and weekend getaways to the Texas Hill Country.
James was a dedicated, hardworking, and valued employee for 36 years as an Oil Production Foreman at John H. Young Inc. He managed the La Grange plant, wells in this area and also the ones located in Liberty.
James was an avid outdoorsman and could be found either deer hunting, target shooting or fishing with his buddies in his free time. He also loved barbecuing whether it was at his barndo with his family or at cookoffs with his team, “Hot Ash.” He was also a very skillful mechanic. James owned a 1969 Chevrolet Chevelle and recently enjoyed spending time restoring it. In his earlier years, he was extremely proud of his Chevrolet truck, “Tuff Enuff ” that helped him win the title of “Modified 4 Wheel Drive Truck National Champion” in the Outlaws Truck and Tractor Pullers Association in 1997.
He was a faithful member of the Colorado River Cowboy Church and also a member of the La Grange Gun Club where he enjoyed spending time shooting his collection of guns.
What James loved most was his family. He is survived by his wife of two years, Sherry; two stepsons, Hunter Callis of Lafayette, La. and Colt Callis of La Grange; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Curtis and Mary Jane Oltmann of Warrenton; brother, Darrell Pfluger and significant other, Barbara Lehmann of Taylor; brother-in-law, Craig Oltmann and wife Lisa of La Grange; aunt, Gladys Pfluger of Pfluger ville; cousins, Jean Pfluger of College Station; Trey Prinz of Austin; and Pam Crownover of Menomonee Falls, Wisc.
James was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Sharon Pfluger; grandparents, Edgar and Ella Pfluger and grandparents, Alfred and Dora Prinz.
In an abundance of caution due to the recent COVID-19 operating procedures, the funeral home will be following the recommendations of the Governor and County Judge. Face masks must be worn and social distancing up to six feet apart must be observed.
Visitation was held on Thursday, Feb. 25, 2021 from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Koenig-Belvill Funeral Home and Cremations in La Grange. Family will receive friends from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Funeral Services will be held at Koenig-Belvill Funeral Home and Cremations at 10 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 26, 2021 officiated by Pastor Bubba Fowler. Burial will follow at the La Grange City Cemetery.
