Richard Alfred Pereiro, of Round Top, passed away peacefully in his home, Feb. 22, 2022.

Richard was born on July 14, 1929.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 75 years, Katherine M. Pereiro, his father Alfred C. Pereiro, his mother Rosebud H. Pereiro, his brother Buddy Pereiro and a son, Ricky A. Pereiro.

Richard is survived by two sons, Larry A. Pereiro (Glenda) and Harold E. Pereiro (Lana); two sisters, Claudette Griffin and Delores Bashlor; three generations of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren; three brothers-in-law, three sisters-in-law; multiple generations of nieces and nephews.

Richard was active in this community at many levels, assisting old and young alike. He was a member and committed servant of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Warrenton since moving to the area in 1968. Many of his volunteer hours with the church included assisting with the Annual Celebration of the Firemen’s Feast for many years. He served as a volunteer at the Giddings State School, caretaker at Florida Chapel Cemetery, and a consistent promotor of many community events which impacted the lives of this community and beyond.

After retirement from Texas State Highway Department, he enjoyed his days as an avid golfer and fisherman, as well as traveling and spending time with the love of his life, Katherine.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Florida Chapel Cemetery Association (Round Top) or to St. John’s Lutheran Church of Warrenton.
