Janie Nawara, age 80, of New Ulm, passed away on May 19, 2020 in La Grange.

She was born on Feb. 26, 1940 to Emil Jezek and Annie (Petrazelka) Jezek in Fairchilds, Texas. On Nov. 2, 1958 she married James Carroll Nawara.

Janie worked as a bank teller for many years at Industry State Bank.

She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church.

Janie enjoyed gardening, quilting, camping and following her grandkids and great-grandkids through sporting events.

Janie is survived by her husband James Nawara; daughter Karen Kilian and husband Daniel; son Loran Nawara and wife Oneida; brother Lee Jezek and wife Dorothy; grandchildren JD Kilian and wife Ashley, Lisa Bubert and husband Patrick, April Johnson, Jacey Nawara and wife Adriana, Gabe Toledo and wife Shayna, Nicole Voitle; great-grandchildren Christa Kilian, Jacob Kilian, Jocelyn Lewis, Marc Lewis, Malachi Johnson, Sania Johnson; numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents Emil and Annie Jezek; sister Claudia Tobola; niece Sandy Davis.

A Private Graveside Service was held on Friday, May 22, 2020 at 10 a.m. at New Ulm Cemetery Pavillion in New Ulm. Pastor Glenn Hohlt officiated.

Burial took place in New Ulm Cemetery in New Ulm.

Pallbearers were JD Kilian, Jacey Nawara, Patrick Bubert, Gabe Toledo, Jacob Kilian and David Jezek.
