Howard Joseph Muniz was born on May 12, 1950 at Lee Memorial Hospital in Giddings, Texas to Matilde G. and Rosa (Esparza) Muniz. He graduated from Giddings High School in 1969. Howard was drafted into the U.S. Army and served his term at Fort Lewis, Washington. He was employed at Brown & Root, JW Measurement, and retired from Energy Transfer in 2019. Howard married Teresa Siegeler on July 10, 2004 at St. Margaret Catholic Church in Giddings. He enjoyed BBQ cookoffs, fishing, and all outdoor activities. He was lovingly called “Deacon” by BBQ friends because he and Teresa were faithful to worship no matter where they would be. They would always find a local church to attend. Howard took pride in keeping everything in perfect order inside and outside their home. He worked hard to accomplish this.

Howard passed away on Dec. 20, 2020 at St. David’s Hospital South due to complications from COVID-19.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Matilde and Rosa Muniz; son, Adrian R. Muniz; one brother, Genaro Muniz, and four sisters, Lupe Redkey, Josie Kuntz, Marie Muniz, and Kay Chew.

Howard is survived by his wife, Teresa Siegeler Muniz of Giddings; two sons, Andre and T.C. Muniz and Aaron and Tish Muniz and two granddaughters, Phalyn and Pharen Muniz, all of La Grange; two step grandsons, Reece Kollaja and Kole Krnavek; two step children, William Ray and Betty Sump of Port Lavaca, Corrie Lynn Busby of Caldwell, and their children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and other members of Teresa’s family; brother, Louis and Andrea Muniz of Giddings; sisters, Gloria and Ben Guajardo of Georgetown, Lorene and Norman Holman of Giddings, Frances Silgero of Pinehurst, Hope and Clyde Holman of Amarillo, Lena Barrera of Giddings, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
