Mueller
Lorena P. Mueller went to her eternal rest on April 15, 2026. She was born on April 17, 1930, in Lavaca County to Michael D. Parker and Juel Wimberly Parker. She graduated as valedictorian from Yoakum High School, completed business school and worked as a bookkeeper.
Lorena married Vastine Mueller on Jan. 9, 1949, in Yoakum. They shared many common interests, especially the love of dancing waltzes and polkas and the company of others in dance groups in their community. They also enjoyed birdwatching trips and anytime they were walking or driving they were on the lookout for a new bird.
Lorena loved growing plants and arranging flowers. She was a homemaker and always made beautiful centerpieces for her Christmas table. Lorena was an excellent seamstress, loved embroidery and quilting with her quilting group in La Grange. She was an avid reader and continued reading and learning until her death.
Lorena was a lifelong member of the Lutheran Church and most recently was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Sealy. Her faith was firm. She was devoted to her husband and family. Lorena recently expressed thanks for her husband, parents, brothers and sisters, her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and all her extended family. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the lights of her life.
Lorena is survived by her son, Gerald Mueller of Houston; her daughter, Mary Gassiott and husband Tim of Sealy; and her daughter-in-law Mitzi Mueller of Portland. She is survived by her three grandsons: Derek Mueller and wife Sarah of Spring, James Gassiott of Sealy, Joel Gassiott of Houston; and one granddaughter, Evelin Betz and husband Tyler of Portland. Also surviving are three great-grandchildren: Chloe Mueller of Spring, Max Betz and Reagan Betz of Portland. She is also survived by her sister, Barbara Buethe of Victoria; brother, Randy Parker and wife Ruth of Shelby, N.C.; along with sisters-in-law, Beverly Parker of Victoria and Marian Frerichs of La Grange. Lorena had a great number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Vastine Mueller; her parents; son, David Mueller; two brothers: Leslie Parker (Louise) and Michael D. Parker, Jr. and five sisters: Florence Ponton (Raymond), Maxine Fudge (Welton), Mildren Ponton (Joel), Almarhea Allen (Mayo), Judy Lawrence (Mel); brother-in-law, Don Buether and infant greatgrandson Cole Mueller.
The visitation and funeral will be held on Saturday, April 25, 2026, at Fayette Memorial Funeral Home located at 967 E. Colorado St. in La Grange. Visitation will be from 10- 11 a.m. followed immediately by the funeral service. Burial will be at Rutersville Cemetery, 4301-4399 Old College Road, La Grange, beginning at 12:30 p.m.
