McKenzie
Joseph Edward McKenzie (Joe) was born Nov. 1, 1968 in La Grange, to the late Dell McCraw McKenzie and Classie Mae (Tutson) McKenzie. He was the last of 13 children.
He grew up knowing the Lord, what makes it great God knew Joe. Joe was a member of St. Matthews Baptist Church in La Grange. He attended La Grange High School and went on to graduate from Booker T Washington High School in Houston. He had a talent for writing poetry and two were published by the American Poetry Society.
On Dec. 25, 2020 Joseph Edward McKenzie departed this earthly life and answered his master call to eternal rest.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dell McCraw McKenzie and Classie Mae (Tutson) McKenzie; three sisters, Charlene (Tutson) Stewart, Ida Ruth (McKenzie) Holloway, and Leola McKenzie.
He left to cherish in his memories one son, Arren Joseph McKenzie and five grandchildren, Aliyah Faith McKenzie, Isaiah King McKenzie, Joe Ezekiel McKenzie, and Rachel Renee McKenzie and Quianna Kade Roberts; two brothers, Henry Earl McKenzie of Houston and Robert Louis McKenzie of Atlanta, Ga.; four sisters, Velesta Reaux (John), Dell Marie Waddell (Craig), Dorothy McKenzie Sargent (Wilbert), Sarah McKenzie (Larry); special niece and nephew raised as brother and sister, Nicole Hart (Donald Ray Sinegal) and Demetrius Tyrone McKenzie; brother-in-law, Orange Holloway Jr.; a host of nieces and nephews, relatives and friends; and special longtime friend Francheska Hancock of La Grange.
Funeral Services for Joseph Edward McKenzie will be held Saturday, Jan. 9, 2021 at 11 a.m. at Saint James Baptist Church in Plum.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Tommy E. Taylor Funeral Home in La Grange.
