Lillian Millie Laqua, age 88, of Victoria, passed away on April 13, 2026, in Victoria. She was born on May 24, 1937, in Ellinger to John and Sophie Jasek.
Lillian lived a life marked by devotion to her family, her work, and the many people whose lives she touched along the way. She was a loving, selfless, and generous woman whose presence brought comfort and strength to those around her. Her life reflected a quiet grace and a steadfast commitment to caring for others, and she will be remembered with deep affection by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Laqua, and is survived by her sons, Chris Laqua and David Laqua; her daughter-in-law, Trisha Laqua; her grandsons, Matthew Laqua, Jonathan Laqua, and Tyler Laqua; her granddaughter-in-law, Mckenzie Laqua; and her greatgrandchildren, Wyatt Laqua and Whitleigh Laqua. She is also survived by her sisters, Edna Krivacka and Evelyn Heintshel. Her family was a source of great pride and joy throughout her life, and she treasured every moment spent with them.
Lillian attended school and later studied bookkeeping at Wharton County Junior College, building a foundation for a lifelong work ethic that served her well in every chapter of her life. She held many jobs over the years, always approaching her responsibilities with diligence and integrity. Her final position was with Gulf Coast Company in Victoria, Texas, where she served as the bookkeeper for nine branches. She was known for her reliability, her attention to detail, and the care she brought to her work each day.
In addition to her professional life, Lillian also shared her talents and energy by owning and operating Northcrest Child Care Center, a daycare for children ages 2 through 12. Through this work, she helped provide a safe and nurturing place for children to learn and grow. Her dedication to the children in her care was a reflection of the kindness and patience that defined her character.
Outside of work, Lillian embraced life with enthusiasm. In her younger years, she enjoyed going to dances, where she found joy in music and fellowship. She also excelled in sports, including basketball, volleyball, and softball, demonstrating both her competitive spirit and her love of being active. In quieter moments, she found happiness in growing plants and flowers, tending to them with the same care and devotion she gave to the people in her life.
Lillian’s life was one of hard work, family devotion, and simple but meaningful pleasures. She faced life with strength and humility, and she leaves behind a legacy of love that will continue through her children, grandchildren, greatgrandchildren, sisters, and all who were blessed to know her.
