Barbara Sue Krenek, 78, of Paige, passed away peacefully on Monday, Nov. 8, 2021.
Barbara was born in Houston on June 17, 1943, the daughter of Hugh Edward and Leola Rachel (Ryman) Head. She married Theodore E. Krenek on September 9, 1961 at St. Jerome Catholic Church in Houston.
After graduating from Spring Branch Memorial high school, she began work as an admin for Lloyds of London. Shortly thereafter, she focused her time on managing the family home and her two sons until they graduated. Subsequently, she was employed at West End Lumber and Lee County Coop in Giddings.
Initially growing up in Houston, she quickly adapted to the rural life after marriage. She spent many hours working alongside the family on the farm as well as refining her cooking, baking and seamstress skills. It was always said that no one left her house hungry. She spent her retirement years in Fayette county, (living in Winchester, Westpoint and Flatonia) and worked avidly on projects around the home.
Survivors include two sons, Theodore Krenek, Jr. and wife, Jacque, of Driftwood; Greg Krenek and wife, Patricia, of Paige; sister, Carolyn Krenek and husband Leonard of Hearne; brother, Robert Head and wife Linda of Early; eight grandchildren, Rachel Jones and husband, Chas; Brittany Siegmund and husband, Darren; Brook Lawson and husband Daniel, Clay Krenek; Jenna Krenek; Greg Krenek, Jr. and wife, Mariah; Laura Mutschink and husband, Jordan; and Travis Krenek; and eight great-grandchildren, Violet, Evelyn, Kason, Memphis, Tinnley, Jackson, Avery and Alayna.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore E. Krenek of 60 years.
A graveside service will be held at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery in Fayetteville at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2021.
