Kahlden
Betty (Kubesch) Kahlden, 70, of La Grange, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 27, 2021.
Betty was born in Weimar on Feb. 15, 1951, the daughter of the late Ernest and Virginia (Rabel) Kubesch.
She graduated from Weimar High School in 1969. Some of Betty’s fondest memories during high school included her love for sports. Betty participated in volleyball, track, softball, tennis, and even a powderpuff football team. Later in life, Betty found enjoyment playing golf.
She married James “Jim” Kahlden on April 28, 1973, at the Weimar United Church of Christ. Betty and James were blessed to have shared forty-eight years of marriage together.
Betty was an exceptional wife and mother. She devoted her life to caring for her family. She took great enjoyment in volunteering for her church and within her community. While her daughters were in school, Betty volunteered weekly with Helping One Student to Succeed (HOSTS) and became a Lutheran Youth Organization Director. Betty felt very lucky to have had the opportunity to help build homes with Habitat for Humanity.
Some of Betty’s hobbies included traveling and reading. Betty loved her friends dearly and enjoyed spending time catching up and socializing with them. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family and her beloved grandchildren who were her pride and joy.
Betty is survived by her husband, Jim Kahlden; two daughters: Jamie Turner and husband, Chris of McKinney; and Stephanie Parry and husband, Andrew of Frisco; one sister, Linda Janacek and husband, Wesley of Schulenburg; two brothers: Allan Kubesch and wife, Kim of Bryan; Darrell Kubesch and wife, Cindy of Weimar; four grandchildren: Kaylin and Brynlee Turner; and Alana and Cohen Parry; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and friends who will miss her dearly.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Ernest and Virginia Kubesch; father and mother-in-law: Otto and Lillian Kahlden; one brother, Larry Kubesch; and brother-in-law, Roy Kahlden.
Visitation will be held on Friday, Aug. 6, 2021 from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Koenig-Belvill Funeral Home & Cremations in La Grange. Family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m.
A Celebration of Life will be held at First United Methodist Church, 1215 N. Von Minden, La Grange, at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 7, 2021. A private inurnment will be held at a later time.
