Janish
Alois “Louie” Joseph Janish, 83, of Fayetteville passed away peacefully on Monday, Aug. 9, 2021.
Louie was born in Fayetteville on Feb. 11, 1938, the son of Joe F. Janish and Mary (Canik) Janish. He married Charlene Minar on May 19, 1974 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Fayetteville.
He served in the U.S. Army at the rank of a Private First Class from 1961 - 1963. Louie returned from the military and worked as a Field Supervisor at the Lehigh Hanson gravel pit in Columbus for over 40 years.
Louie enjoyed gardening especially teaching the grandchildren how to can pickles and make molasses. One of his favorite hobbies was fixing old farm tractors. He loved family gatherings, especially having lunch with the family every Sunday. Louie enjoyed cooking for the holidays and was very good at it. He loved riding around and reminiscing (telling stories) about the sights he saw which reminded him of the “good old days”. Every year he looked forward to the Janish family reunion to visit with everyone. He was a great dad and even better Popo. He will be missed dearly.
He is survived by two daughters: Mandy Wells and husband, Paul; Tammy Jurecka and husband, Patrick, all of Fayetteville; three sisters: Mary Rainosek and husband, Frank, of Austin; Vlasta Korenek and husband, Lawrence, of Columbus; and Clara Gerik of Fayetteville,; three brothers: Robert Janish and wife, Evelyn, of Bellville; Steve Janish of Columbus; Joe Janish and wife, Diane, of Fayetteville; seven grandchildren: Megan, Dylan, Sadie and Jaxon Wells; Peyton, Cole and Paige Jurecka; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Charleen Janish; two sons: Russell Janish and Jeffery Raska; two sisters: Annie and Angeline Janish; and two brothers: Paul and Peter Janish.
The first visitation will be held on Thursday, Aug. 12, 2021 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Koenig-Belvill Funeral Home & Cremations in La Grange. The second visitation, with family present receiving friends, will be held on Thursday, Aug. 12, 2021 from 5 to 7 p.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Fayetteville with a Rosary being recited at the church beginning at 7 p.m.
Funeral Services will be held at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 205 E. Bell St., Fayetteville, TX at 10 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 13, 2021. Burial will follow at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery.
