Graveside services for Sylvia Hughey, 95, of Georgetown was held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, May 5, 2020 at Isaac Hill Cemetery in Round Top with Rev. John David NedbSalek officiating.

Sylvia Hughey was born on Feb. 15, 1925 in Round Top to Willie John and Laura Anna (Emmrich) Braun. She was united in marriage to Robert Hughey in 1948 in Fort Worth, Texas. She was homemaker. She was a member of the Rice Belt RV Club and Good Sam RV Club, cub scout leader and was a member of the PTA in Arlington. Sylvia was a professional bowler, riding horses, working her cattle, camping, playing with her pet pig, hunting, fishing, reading, recordkeeping, cooking, gardening, taking care of her family and she was very skilled at driving her 34-foot Winnebago.

Sylvia passed away the morning of Friday, May 1, 2020 in Round Rock.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Willie & Laura Braun; husband, Robert; son, Alan Hughey, and three sisters, Grace Hinze, Lorene Hartfield, and Verlie Kurets.

Sylvia is survived by her son, Jerry Hughey of Georgetown; two grandchildren, Tara Cummings and her husband, Lance of Cherokee, and Derek Hughey of San Antonio; one great grandchild, Jessica Hughey of San Marcos, and one brother, Floyd Braun and his wife, Josie of Round Top.

Memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings.
