Harbers
Gloria “Jean” Harbers, 59, of West Point, entered into Eternal Rest on Monday, Aug. 30, 2021.
Jean was born in Gonzales on July 24, 1962, the daughter of Dorothy (Simmons) and Walter Douglas Richter.
She graduated in 1980 from La Grange High School.
Jean married the love of her life, Ted Harbers on April 16, 1983 in La Grange. They were blessed with three children: Jonathan, Jordan, and Emily.
Jean worked with her husband, Ted as secretary for Ted Harbers’ Plumbing for twenty-five years. She was also a devoted mother. Jean’s children could always count on “Mom” to be their #1 supporter. Later in life, Jean was so blessed to become a grandmother, lovingly known as “Gigi.” Jean’s grandchildren were her pride and joy.
In her spare time, Jean loved traveling. She enjoyed taking trips to the beach and spending time going to the casinos with her family and friends. Jean was always the life of the party. She was so fun loving and the type of person that never met a stranger.
Jean will be remembered by her family and friends for her heart of gold. She will be dearly missed, but her family finds great comfort in knowing that she is no longer in pain and has now gained her angel’s wings.
She is survived by her husband of thirty-eight years, Ted Harbers; father, Walter Richter of La Grange; one son, Jonathan “Bubba” Harbers and wife, Carrie Anne of La Grange; two daughters: Jordan Von Minden and husband, Jarrod of La Grange; and Emily Maupin and husband, Jeremy of Weimar; one brother, Douglas Richter and wife, Belinda of La Grange; two sisters: Misty Richter of Fayetteville, and Carolyn Koether of La Grange; mother-in-law, Lyndell Harbers of West Point; sister-in-law, Terrie Crow and husband, Rick of Bastrop; five grandchildren: Avery and Mason Harbers; Jensen Von Minden; Tatum and Ellie Maupin; numerous nieces and nephews; along with her dear friend, Cathy Krnavek.
