Gillum

Paul “JR” Gaylord Gillum, Jr., 65, of La Grange, passed away on Monday, May 25, 2020.

JR was born in Burnet on Jan. 31, 1955, the son of Paul Gillum, Sr. and Margie (Ratliff) Gillum.

He married Glenda Antosh on Aug. 8, 1992 in Austin. JR worked as an equipment operator in construction most of his career. He was well known for growing beautiful flowers and he was a judge at the Fayette County Fair judging the floral exhibits as well as judging the pigeon division. JR enjoyed visiting with people and he never knew a stranger.

He is survived by his wife, Glenda, of 27 years; mother, Margie Hughling of La Grange; two daughters: Karli Gillum of Houston; Dawn Johnson and husband, Jesse, of Leander; three brothers: Stanley Gillum and wife, Belinda, of La Grange; Ronnie Gillum and wife, Melanie, and Scott Gillum and wife, Wanda, all of New Braunfels; two grandchildren: Zackary and Tyler Gunn.

He was preceded in death by his father, Paul Gillum, Sr.

In an abundance of caution due to the recent COVID-19 operating procedures, we will be following the recommendations of the Governor and County Judge.

Visitation was held on Thursday, May 28, 2020 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Koenig-Belvill Funeral Home Cremations.

A graveside service will be held at La Grange City Cemetery on Friday, May 29, 2020 at 10 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Gardenia E. Janssen Animal Shelter, 240 Svoboda Lane, La Grange, TX 78945.
