Freudenberg
Randall Kirk Freudenberg, known lovingly as Randy, passed away on April 29, 2026, in La Grange at the age of 62.
He was born on April 13, 1964, in La Grange, a beloved son to his parents: James Edward and Nettie Mae (Steglich) Freudenberg.
Randy spent his life rooted in the community he called home. Randy’s life was marked by faith, devotion to family, and a steady kindness that touched everyone who knew him. He lived as a Christian man who sought to honor the Lord in the way he treated others, and he will be remembered with deep love and gratitude by all who were blessed to share in his life.
Randy is survived by his loving wife Lorri, and children; Logan Chowning and wife Lissete, and Briana Hardin and husband Logan. He was a proud and joyful grandfather to Easton, Triston, Genesis, Landon, Jaxson, Paxton, and baby girl Hardin who is expected in August. His family was the center of his world, and he cherished each relationship with a gentle and steadfast heart. He is also survived by his brother, Bruce Freudenberg, and Bruce’s wife Mary; his niece, Megan Freudenberg; his nephew, Chris Freudenberg, and Chris’s wife Kaitlin; and numerous cousins, greatniece and great-nephew, and dear friends who will carry his memory forward with love.
Randy built a strong foundation through education and hard work. He graduated from La Grange High School, earned an Associate in Arts degree from Blinn College, and later received a Bachelor of Business Administration from Sam Houston State University. His dedication to learning and his steady work ethic reflected the values that guided him throughout his life. He worked for Perry’s, Ace Hardware, HEB, and Colorado Valley Communications, where he gave 30 years of loyal service. In each place he worked, he was known for being thoughtful, kind, and friendly, and he took pride in doing his best for the people around him. His long career was a testimony to his dependability and his commitment to serving others with integrity.
Randy was active in many activities and organizations throughout his life, always willing to give of himself to his family, his community, and the young people around him. He participated in Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts, and he served as high school class president all four years, showing early signs of the leadership and responsibility that would continue to define him. He was also involved in 4-H, the Evening Lions Club, and the Booster Club, where he supported local causes and took part in the life of his hometown. Randy coached his children in Little League and Little Dribblers, and he found great joy in encouraging them, teaching them, and watching them grow. His presence on the sidelines was more than that of a coach, for he was a steady source of encouragement and love.
Randy enjoyed sports and followed them with enthusiasm throughout his life. He loved watching the La Grange Leopards, the Sam Houston Bearkats, and the Dallas Cowboys. He also enjoyed cheering on the Houston Astros and watching golf, basketball, volleyball, and softball. Sports gave him many moments of excitement and enjoyment, but even more than that, they gave him opportunities to share time and memories with those he loved. Whether he was watching a game, talking about a play, or enjoying the success of a favorite team, Randy brought warmth and genuine interest to every conversation. He also loved to fish and to play golf whenever he had the chance, finding peace and happiness in the simple pleasures of time spent outdoors.
Randy’s home life was filled with affection, companionship, and the comfort of the animals he loved. He took great joy in his beloved pets, Rosie, Charlie, and his granddog Lucy. He cared for them with the same tenderness that he showed toward people, and they were a cherished part of his everyday life. Those who knew Randy knew that he had a gentle heart and a sincere spirit. He was thoughtful in his words, kind in his actions, and friendly in the way he welcomed others. His presence made people feel at ease, and his friendship was a gift that many will treasure forever.
Though Randy’s earthly journey has come to an end, his life leaves behind a legacy of faith, family, service, and love. He faced his illness with courage and dignity, and even in his discomfort, he continued to demonstrate these characteristics while surrounded by the love of those closest to him. Christians find comfort in the promise of eternal life through Jesus Christ, and those who knew Randy may take solace in the hope that he is now at peace in the presence of his Savior. His life was a blessing, his memory will be cherished, and his influence will continue to live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and community.
A life well lived is not measured only by years, but by the love shared, the faith kept, and the kindness given along the way. Randy Freudenberg lived such a life. He will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever held in the hearts of those who loved him.
