Ruby Mae East, 70, of La Grange died Sunday, May 2, 2021 in Houston.

Ruby was born March 26, 1951 in La Grange to Lovie Dobbins and Ruby (Henderson) Johnson. She married Edgar East and worked as a caregiver. She was a member of St. James Baptist Church in Plum.

She is survived by her husband of La Grange; daughters, Tammie Henderson of Houston and Courtney Truesdale of La Grange; sister, Ruthie L. Henderson of Houston, Moralene Johnson of La Grange, Dorothy Johnson-Menefee of La Grange, and Josephine Henderson-York of Austin; brothers, Fletcher Johnson and wife Caroline of Houston and Charles Johnson and wife Joyce of Houston. She is also survived by nine grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister.

Funeral services were held at St. James Baptist Church in Plum on Saturday, May 15, 2021 with Rev. Austin Jones officiating. Interment followed in the La Grange City Cemetery.

Funeral services have been entrusted to Tommy E. Taylor Funeral Home in La Grange.
