Demel

Hilda Belcik Demel, 92, of Schulenburg, passed away on Nov. 7, 2021. She was born on Nov. 1, 1929 near La Grange to Robert and Ida Bittner Belcik. She was married to Alton Demel over 70 years.

She is survived by: daughters, Deborah Huebel (Larry) and Sharon Demel; sons, Perry Demel (Tracy) and Kevin Demel. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Kimberly Tapia (Robert), Kenneth Huebel, Nathan Demel, Megan Demel, Mara Tyrone (Ryan), Mason Demel and Maggie Demel. She is survived by three great grandchildren Elizabeth Tapia, Emily Tapia and Robert Tapia. Numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members and friends also survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters Adela Freudenburg, Erna Luce, Ida Kubos and Helen Roddam; brothers: Robert Belcik Jr, Ben Belcik, Ferdinand Belcik and Thomas Belcik.

Rosary and a Mass of Christian Burial were celebrated by Father Scott Hill at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in High Hill on Nov. 10, 2021. Interment took place in the High Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers were Kim Tapia, Robert Tapia, Kenneth Huebel, Mara Tyrone, Ryan Tyrone, Mason Demel, Nathan Demel, Megan Demel and Maggie Demel.

Hilda was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. She had a great love for her family and friends. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in High Hill, St. Anne’s Society, and the Schulenburg Garden Club. Hilda was an excellent seamstress and was known for her quilt making skills. She was a charter member of the Colorado Valley Quilt Guild. One of her quilts won grand prize at the Fayette County Fair in 1990. She also loved to garden, can fruits and vegetables and bake cookies, cake and pies. In her spare time she liked to play dominoes and cards.
