Sharon Kay (Svrcek) Belota, 65, of La Grange passed away on Friday, Jan. 15, 2021.

Sharon was born in La Grange on May 24, 1955, the daughter of Edmund and Bernice (Minarcik) Svrcek. Sharon married Dennis Belota on May 15, 1976 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in La Grange.

She worked at LCRA for numerous years. After her retirement, Sharon worked as a greeter for Koenig-Belvill Funeral Home, managed Prosperity Bank Travel Club in La Grange, and worked for Second Chance Emporium for several years.

Sharon was a lifelong member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court Annunciation No. 1962, Altar Society, and KJZT.

Sharon loved spending time with her family and friends. A fluttering social butterfly, her generous spirit and kindness were felt by all. She was a devout Catholic, strongly believing in the power of prayer and her deep faith carried her through many difficult times. Sharon gave her all to anything she was involved in. She was compassionate to the core, always thinking of others. Her smile and cheerfulness were comforting yet could light up a room. Sharon enjoyed spending time with her beloved pet Gigi. Traveling, especially sisters trips, gambling, dining out, and her flowers were also things she loved. She enjoyed her game shows immensely, especially Jeopardy. She loved hosting celebrations, decorating her home, and generally just connecting with people.

She is survived by her husband, Dennis, of 44 years; daughter, Brooke Belota of Seattle, Wash.; three sisters: Shirley Polasek and husband, Leonard, of La Grange; Patsy Stavinoha and husband, Leroy, of Lyons; Terry Svrcek Brooks of Swiss Alp; two brothers: Robert Svrcek and wife, Carol, of La Grange; Joseph Svrcek of La Grange; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and two infant daughters.

In an abundance of caution due to the recent COVID-19 operating procedures, the funeral home will be following the recommendations of the Governor and County Judge. Facemasks must be worn in the funeral home and social distancing up to six feet apart must be observed.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2021 from 12 to 7 p.m. at Koenig-Belvill Funeral Home & Cremations.

A private family funeral service will be held at a later time.
