    Baumbach

Larry Dean Baumbach was born on June 5, 1956 in Weimar and passed away on Aug. 7, 2021.

He was the youngest son of Vastine and Vivian (Naumann) Baumbach. He was baptized at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Blackjack Springs in the O’Quinn community and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church in La Grange. He attended school in Flatonia, Texas and graduated from Flatonia High School. He was an avid member of the FFA and enjoyed helping his son with his steer projects and was already planning future projects with his grandkids.

Most people would describe Larry as a “gentile giant” but he was so much more than that. He was kind-hearted, a wonderful dad, dedicated employee, loyal friend, and the best PoPo to his grandchildren. His life truly started after the birth of his two granddaughters. Although it might have appeared that his primary job required working from sun up to sun down, his favorite “job” was spending time with his granddaughters after the sun set. He enjoyed spending his evenings after work playing with them, checking cows on the buggy, and he’d probably say the most rewarding part was chauffeuring his granddaughters to and from school and their many snack stops along the way. He also enjoyed drinking a cold beer with his son while watching the Astros.

He is survived by his best friend and son, Christopher and wife, Morgan, the lights of his life, granddaughters Parker and Miller, sister Iva Voight and husband Cliff, and several cousins and nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by parents, Vastine and Vivian Baumbach, siblings, Wilbur Baumbach, and Claude Baumbach and wife Betty.

Serving as pallbearers were Ron Beck, Jr. Clint Kainer, Francisco Manzano, Gerald Mettlach, Ron Naumann, and Charles Zapalac.

Visitation was held on Thursday, Aug. 12, 2021, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Schwenke-Baumgarten Funeral Home in Schulenburg.

Funeral services were held on Friday, Aug. 13, 2021 at 10 a.m. at the United Evangelical Lutheran Church in Swiss Alp. Burial will follow at the Blackjack Cemetery in O’Quinn.
